K15 Gave You Biggest Forgiveness

It was hard to see how Ping could add a set to their range that was more forgiving than the G15. But the Ping K15 Irons achieve this with enormous heads and extremely wide soles that combine to produce hybrid-like performance. The heads are so big that they even make it easy to line up at the intended target. These will prove a godsend for anyone who struggles to get the ball airborne. The ball flies so high that is also stops extremely quickly. 

Without switching to an all-out hybrid set these are as forgiving as it gets. The weighting in the head produces a towering flight. 

We felt that the G15 irons were difficult to hit off tight lies and this is even more the case here. The cavity is so large it can be seen at address in the long clubs.

The Ping K15 Irons, developed of course by PING, one of the premier golf club manufacturers in the world, were brought to us as a new set of maximum game-improvement irons. Most of the people I play with regularly are avid golfers, but some of them are getting up there in years and they're looking for clubs that will help them hit the ball higher and longer while still being forgiving. They've been talking about these clubs since they came out in 2010, and the people who have bought them seem to love them. Because of all the favorable buzz and reviews about the Ping K15 Irons, I decided to take them out for a test drive.

Even though I'm not a huge fan of the hybrids in this Ping K15 Irons set, I think they are much more than adequate for the task at hand. The irons are very nice indeed, and hit wonderfully. Now if you are a beginner or a chronic slicer you will love the hybrids in this Ping K15 Irons set. They just run with a little too much offset for my personal taste, and that can lead to some nasty pull-hooks for a converted lefty like me. These Ping K15 Irons are exceptionally well built, as long as anything else out there, and for once--Ping is giving Adams a real run for their money in the Forgiveness department, while beating them in the distance game. (The distance claim is for irons only--the Adams hybrids are definitely the longer in that category.) If you are a beginner or high capper and in the market for irons--these deserve more than just a cursory glance. Excellent Experiences with K15 Irons

Already this season we’ve reviewed both the K15 Driver, and the K15 Fairway wood. Both were well received by our testers, many of whom told us that they didn’t care whether or not they were designed for game improvement, they just really liked the clubs. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that the numbers, especially with the fairway woods, were quite simply HUGE.

Many golfers may already be familiar with PINGs G15 irons, or even the forthcoming G20 irons.  As forgiving as those irons are, the Ping K15 Irons are actually designed to be even more forgiving.  To be sure, with broad soles, thick topline, and generous offset, they certainly look the part of a super game-improvement iron.

It's always something of a thrill to get your hands on a new set of clubs and particularly so when they come from Ping.

Having used my current set of irons for some time now - foolishly purchased for their sleek aesthetics rather than ease of use, a fatal mistake for any mid-high handicapper - it was a genuine pleasure to use the new Ping K15 Irons.

The Ping K15 Irons wide sole enables the clubs to sit comfortably behind the ball, almost positioning and aligning them, and it wasn't long before I was struck with the realization of how easy they are to use.

At no point did I feel the need to force shots, such was the ease in getting the ball airborne without any loss of distance, and as a result I was swinging easier and more consistently.

Their chunky design and dark grey finish won't be to everyone's taste, but if they consistently send the ball where you want it to go I don't think anyone would complain.

I also got a chance to try out a No.4 hybrid which on first impressions makes you think that the unusual shape and design shouldn't be used for hitting a golf ball.

In practice though, given the option of using a traditional long iron or this club I'm all for change.

Easy to set up, solid off the face and out of the rough far easier to use, another eye opener for preconceptions.

The clubs are classed as 'game improver' and I would defy anybody not to improve their game using them. They simply make a difficult and frustrating sport easier and as a result more enjoyable to play.

Ping K15 Fairway Wood Revealed

As we know, different kinds of golf clubs have different features, and what kind of features does this Ping K15 Fairway Wood have? Ping K15 Fairway Wood is designed for golfers who tend to lose shots to the right. Its club face is squared with a substantial amount of sole weight concentrated near the heel. The larger profile and bigger face create a sizeable increase in MOI. The Ping K15 Fairway Wood has a very nice weight and balance to it when you first hold it in your hands. The oversize head and large club face also make this a very reliable looking fairway wood. This club is extremely well balanced. From the end of the grip to the sole of the head, one senses a club that was built to be easy to hit and easy to play.

Ping K15 Fairway Woods Review

Ping launched the new K15 Fairway woods to accompany the K15 irons, hybrids and driver. Ping K15 Fairway Wood features a larger clubhead design that has placed the mass of the club away from the club face to help increase the moment of inertia (MOI) and lower and deepen the centre of gravity (CG) to provide a dynamic loft at impact that produces a higher trajectory. The same as the driver, K15 Fairway wood adopted Ping’s patented pending Straight Flight Technology (SF Tec) which places 6% of the clubhead mass towards the heel of the club with an external weight pad. This promotes a natural clubhead rotation through impact while the innovative design means the external sole weight pad is barely visible at address. You will achieve maximum forgiveness with this SFT which makes Ping K15 Fairway Wood versatile enough to play from the fairway or light rough. The flight is a little bit higher than that offered by G15 fairway wood, but not much and as long as you are not playing in windy conditions. The SF Tec (Straight Flight Technology) ‘bulge’ on the heel side of the sole is subtle and helps to turn the club over at impact to reduce the likelihood of a fade. Overall, Ping K15 Fairway Wood is a great wood for high handicappers, but it is also suitable for golfers of mid-handicaps.

PING Rapture V2 Driver Review

    Started with putters, technology-leading PING launched its new products at its 50^th anniversary with a hope to promote the interest in golf sports to a higher level, and provide products with more advanced technology. Ping Golf make their efforts to decrease the hit amount for golfers. Ping was set in 1959. The creator of Ping, Karsten Solheim, began his golf legend in the garage of his house at Redwood City. Recently, Ping released a series of 2009 products in Arizona including the entirely new Rapture V2 irons and woods, S57 irons and iWi putters.

    The new-generation Rapture V2 series products and iWi-series putter use composite technology and multi-material metal technology. Each new design combines features of various materials to create amazing performance. The all new and common material used in 2009 series products is tungsten metal. From driver to putter, tungsten of different proportion has been adopted in the most proper position of clubhead to promote products to the best. In addition, various specs options are provided. Ping provides unexpected performance through its customization concept. Rapture V2 titanium driver has the thinnest crown Ping has ever produced. This thinnest position is just 0.02 inches, which is thinner than G10 series. Because of the ultra-thin crown of PING Rapture V2 Driver designers were able to redistribute saved weight to adjust the center of gravity. Ping G10 Yellow Dot Irons 3-9WS Review

    Ping G10 Yellow Dot Irons are fit for golfers of medium and high handicap. They have the following characteristics. The perimeter weight of Ping G10 Irons has been increased to the highest limit. With more weight on perimeter and toe, PING engineers designed the G10 head with higher MOI to provide higher forgiveness for higher and straighter flight orbit. The grooves of Ping G10 Irons are parallel with ground and help move more weight to head perimeter in order to produce high MOI for the highest forgiveness. Ping k15 Review

Ping drivers are known to promote faster ball speed across the clubface. To that end, the Ping K15 Driver boasts a large face profile and high moment of inertia (MOI). Ping K15 Driver's bread and butter, though, is to help guys rotate the clubface to a more square impact position and, subsequently, hit straighter shots. The Ping K15 Driver head tries to "square up" dynamically (as you swing) due in part to a meaty, heel-side external pad along the sole.

The key to making that happen is Ping's Straight Flight technology, which is essentially a weight positioned near the heel of the Ping K15 Driver which encourages the face to square at impact.

"As you start to swing down, the weight wants to rotate the Ping K15 Driver head and close it to square," said Solheim. "The nice thing is that the K15 doesn't have a draw face or a closed head, so it really doesn't want to go past the square position. It really just wants to go back to square and stay there."

To lower the club's center of gravity and help golfers get the ball into the air more easily, the crown of the Ping K15 Driver was made especially thin. In some areas it is about the width of two business cards.

"We've tried other stuff, but we keep coming back to the traditional shape that's been evolving since the Ping G2 driver," Solheim said. "We've been pretty successful with that shape and haven't seen a big reason to go too far from it."

While the Ping K15 Driver and the G15 are both 460cc heads, the K15 will play bigger. "It's got a larger profile when you look down at it," Solheim points out. "Its face is also larger."

The K15 drivers are arriving in pro shops now in 9.5°, 10.5° and 12° lofts.

Let our charts be your guide on this one.  If you’re the kind of golfer who fights a slice, frequently misses to the right, or simply can’t achieve any degree of consistency with your current driver, then absolutely, you should be looking at the Ping K15 Driver.  If however, you miss, left, or don’t miss much at all, then realistically, there is very little reason for you to look at the Ping K15 Driver. Fortunately, the G15 and I15 are also part of PING’s current driver lineup.  If the Ping K15 Driver doesn’t suite you, there’s a good chance one of those will.

A Close Look at K15 Driver

Last year Ping released two new drivers, the i15for players who like to work the ball off the tee and the G15 for players who wanted slightly more forgiveness and a higher launch angle for more distance.

Now, for players who simply want to cream the ball as far and as straight as possible, the company has released the Ping K15 Driver.

When Ping's club designers and engineers, including Vice President John K. Solheim, decided to make a new super game-improvement driver, they saw that most of the clubs already on the market have closed faces. That made sense because many golfers in the market for super game-improvement drivers are slicers.

"But what we thought these players really wanted was to aim at a target and hit the ball in that direction," Solheim said. "So when we designed the Ping K15 Driver, that's what we had in mind. Let's just create a driver that is really easy to hit straight."

The Ping K15 Driver features patent pending Straight Flight Technology that uses an extreme external weight pad to move 10% of the Ping K15 Driver head mass towards the heel. By repositioning the centre of gravity this provides a natural rotation through impact. The design of the K15 driver means that the external sole weight pad is largely concealed. The Ping K15 Driver is part of the latest expansion of PING's award-winning product line. PING has revealed its new Ping K15 Driver, part of its new range of clubs that also includes the K15 fairway woods, irons and hybrids. 

The Ping K15 Driver has a larger 460cc head design that moves weight away from the clubface to push the centre of gravity backwards and provide a higher trajectory. By increasing the length from heel to toe Ping have also been able to create a larger surface to provide high levels of forgiveness and higher ball velocity.

Drive the Ball Straighter and Longer

Assisted by the Ping innovation of Straight Flight Technology (SF Tech), the Ping K15 Driver places approximately 10% of the head mass into the heel of the club, helping to square the club face through the hitting zone for consistently straight tee shots.

Ping Red Wood Putter Review

    The new Ping line is named for Redwood City, CA, a little south of San Francisco, where Karsten Solheim lived when he began making putters in his garage. They've chosen three classic models to render in a milled version: the Anser, the Zing, and the mallet-like Piper. The Ping Redwood Anser and Zing heads weigh 340 grams, the Piper head 355 grams. As a point of reference, Scotty Cameron, who is fussy about the weight to length ratio in his putters, uses 340 grams in 34-inch putters and 350 grams in 33-inch models. The lie angle of the Red Wood Anser and Zing can be adjusted plus or minus 4° while the face-balanced Piper mallet with its double bend shaft can only be adjusted plus or minus 2° from the standard lie angle. Ping Red Wood Putter is milled out of 303 stainless steel, a material Cameron began using in 2002 for his Studio Stainless line. It's a much denser material than the cast stainless steel Ping has long used and, thus, the club heads are heavier than all but their long discontinued nickel beryllium cast putters. The super large 303 stainless steel head is precisely polished to reach the standard specs, providing you simple line and nice ball-contact feel thus to inspire confidence. The use of black nickel-chromium cover provides Ping Red Wood with low-reflex look, inspired by the unique look of renowned TOUR WEDGE. G15 Hybrid Discussions

The compact shape of the Ping g15hybrid's 17-4 stainless steel head is much shorter in length (from face to back) than most other fairway wood-inspired hybrids. Instead, think of this Ping g15 hybrid as being more like a driving iron, similar to the hybrids made popular by Adams. The intention of this design is to make the player set up to hit this Ping g15 hybrid the same way they would with a regular iron.

Perimeter weighting is provided by a large internal toe pad in order to provide forgiveness and assists in locating the center of gravity low and close to the face for a high launch and low spin. In fact, PING is calling the Ping g15 hybrid their longest and most forgiving hybrid to date, thanks to the previously mentioned toe pad.

Though the Ping g15 hybrid as mentioned did have a look very similar to an iron at address, it's still an extremely easy club to hit.

It's as if that no matter what part of the Ping g15 hybrid face makes contact with the golf ball, the gold ball will fly straight. The head just stays so solid and firm at impact, very little distance or accuracy is lost on miss-hits.

It's sometimes hard to tell, but there is a slight difference in the feel you get when you catch a shot off the toe or the heel for instance, as opposed to the centre of the face. So you do still know when you haven't caught a shot just right, even if it looks fine in the air.

Getting the ball up and airborne with the Ping g15 hybrid is almost as easy as it's going to get in this type of club. Whether it's off the tee or the deck, the 23 degree model tested got the golf ball up so quickly almost every time, with a resultant soft landing as well.

Hit my G15 17 degree with TFC 149 stiff today for the first time on the range. I was really impressed. SUPER Long, straight, and very forgiving of mishit is my first impression. I hit my long irons very well so this is the hybrid I have been waiting for. More to say later after i compare it with my TM 09 TP Rescue 17 degree. 

I love the new Ping g15 hybrid! I was at Ping last week trying the new stuff and at first glance was thinking, no thanks. My fitter said to at least try them, and wow are they solid and easy to hit. I was hitting them higher, straighter and further than the i15 hybrids....I still thought I wanted the i15, but after sleeping on it and looking at the G again; I decided I could get the 20 and 23 degree with the X flex Serrano shaft. 

Ping Rapture V2 Blue Dot Irons 3-9PS Review

   New product in 2009—PING Rapture V2 irons adopted multi-material for its core part including stainless steel (shaft), titanium (clubface), tungsten (sole increased weight) and synthetic rubber (groove insert). The most outstanding feature of this iron series is its higher launch angle, so Ping designers can create more advantageous face angle. The result is further hitting distance. Ping designer Brad Schweigert said the hitting distance provided by Rapture V2 long irons and medium irons is 7 to 10 yards further than G10 irons. Comparing Rapture V2 irons with G10 irons released before, it seems that most golfers prefer to irons with longer hitting distance. But this is not the fact. With the increased hitting distance, there appears another problem for golfers. That is distance control. So although V2 irons can let ball fly like a rocket, it is hard to say that professional golfers or amateur players of low handicap will choose this V2 with lightweight titanium face. Compared with thicker and heavier steel-made face irons, the irons with thinner and lighter titanium face can provide freer swing but are not good at distance control. So, as the replacement of S58, S57 is mainly aimed to high-level golfers who always need to ensure accurate hitting distance. The chief designer of this product is the champion of earlier PGA tour Mike Nicolette. He adopted classical stainless steel blade design and embedded tungsten insert in toe. According to Ping, S57 has MOI which is 5% higher than S58, which means higher stability, better consistency and higher repeatability. All of these are needed by a excellent iron.

    The new spokesman of Ping Hunter Mahan highly praised these new released irons. He got 62 shots in his first round on Barclays Championship with these new Ping Rapture V2 Blue Dot Irons. He said: “It is easy to control the ball with these irons.”

Ping K15 Hybrids Test

The testers of ping k15 hybrid said these clubs were among their favorites, and made an excellent choice for players who need help achieving higher ball flight. James Morrison Leads Singapore Open

The 26-year-old Morrison becomes the leader in the clubhouse on Singapore Open after a second round 68. James Morrison held the clubhouse lead at 12-under when fading light halted play for the day at the weather-hit Singapore Open.

This English professional began the day level with Italian Edoardo Molinari at the top of the leaderboard after both had carded 62s at the easier Tanjong course on Friday, but ended it one in front of the Italian after a three-under 68 at the Serapong. But Molinari still has a great chance to regain top spot after a three-hour delay for a thunderstorm restricted the Ryder Cup star to just 10 holes of his second round.

Three birdies had lifted Molinari to 11-under and he'll now be looking to overtake Morrison when he returns to the course early on Saturday morning to complete his final eight holes. Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano will also have designs on the lead after cashing in at the Tanjong late in the afternoon. The Spaniard had surged up to 10-under - and into a tie for third with Filipino Juvic Pagunsan (safely in the clubhouse following two 66s) - after four birdies and an eagle on his front nine.

Morrison started round two with a bogey before a birdie at the seventh erased the damage, but another bogey at the ninth saw the Englishman drop to one-over on the day. However, Morrison fought back on the homeward nine, picking up birdies at the 11th, 13th and 14th before the thunderstorm arrived. On the resumption of play, he was able to par the next three holes before an excellent approach to two feet on the par-five last brought another birdie and saw him move to 12-under-par at the halfway mark. Morrison has won once in Europe but success has been hard to come by this season with only two top-10s to his name. Still, young Morrison is not afraid to lead from the front despite a near miss at the French Open in July where he led for three rounds before finishing seventh.

Ping G10 Fairway Wood VS Rapture V2 Fairway Wood

Ping G10 Fairway Wood:

Ping G10 Fairway Woods have been popular since the early days. The crown that intersects the sole provides a low profile head, which combines with a shallow face help G10 perform more great. With the intersection of the crown and sole, the Ping engineers reposition mass for a lower center of gravity location by positioning a large weight pad on the sole. The location of the CG allows higher ball speed and reduced spin. The shallower face results in an added forgiveness and consistency.       Many testers feel that the wood gets the ball off the turf just as easily but with a way more boring trajectory. Although it may look closed to some, it hits dead straight for them, so do not base opinions based on how it looks at address. They think the stock TFC 129f shaft is suitable for this wood.

Ping Rapture V2 Fairway wood:

The Ping Rapture V2 has done well to follow G10’s design lead. With a shallower face it sits much better behind the ball, inspiring confidence off the ground. With the enlarged multi-material head, 17-4 SS head with Tungsten Alloy Sole, thin crown design technology, thin machined variable face with robotic plasma weld and new dual rapture graphic alignment aid, the Ping Rapture V2 fairway wood provide better features than G10.

Compared with G10, some testers hole these opinions that V2 is a little bigger, and produces a stronger more penetrating ball flight and overall sits better at address that G10. Both are great clubs. V2 has a better stock shaft (Mitsubishirayon JavlyFx). It felt really solid. The v2 line is super low spin though so if you don't need serious spin reduction you might want to save a few bucks and go with the G10. But some of them have the opposite opinions that the V2 hit the ball way higher, not lower than the G10 - cost me distance and the G10 4 wood 10 yards farther than the Rapture V2 4 wood when they hit. They do not like the green color that V2 provides because it is uncomfortable to line up.

Mizuno MX700 Driver VS Ping G15 Driver

The available lofts:

MX 700 : The lofts available are 9.5, 10.5 and 12 degrees, With only the 9.5 and 10.5 degree models being available in right and left hand.

G15: The available lofts for the G15 Driver are 9, 10.5, 12, and 13.5 degrees.

Look:

MX 700: the head is a nice size not being too big or small, hot face, and the overall weight of the club is also just about perfect. It does feel good when you first stand over the ball with this Driver.

G15: With its 460cc titanium head, it must be one of the toughest and most durable Driver that is available on the market. The club-head sits behind the ball very well and it looks like a strong Driver, that can't help giving you a confident feeling.

Sound:

In the Mizuno MX700, there is just a solid thumping sound that you can't help but grow to love. There aren't many Drivers around that make a nicer sound at impact than this one. There isn't really much negative to be said about this model from Mizuno. Compared with G15, MX700 makes testers more hot and sound great!

Distance:

In terms of the distance that you can get, this was probably the longest Mizuno Driver we've played, despite the rather high trajectory that can often be produced. Most players will probably find the Mizuno MX700 around 20 yards further than the MX500 and the MX560 drivers on average, though overall it's still not quite as long as some other Drivers that are available today. Compared with the MX700, G15 owns longer and straighter. And this impressive distance is still there even when this club isn't hit that well. If you have a slightly inconsistent swing, you can still hit consistently long with the G15.

Feature:

Some testers found the MX700 to be surprisingly low spinning. For many golfers, keeping their spin down is always the greatest challenge, but that was not even an issue with the Mizuno. The launch angle was good, and so does the dispersion. And the price of the MX700 is cheaper than the G15.
