Ping G10 Series Review

The Ping G10 is the latest addition to the company’s “G” family. With this line, Ping has gained high popularity among a wide range of golfers. Ping G10 line incorporates g10 driver, fairway wood, hybrid and irons. Ping G10 driver has a large clubhead of 460cc. Its head features a larger profile with a taller face and deeper crown for higher moment of inertia (MOI) to provide higher forgiveness and increased ball velocity. Ping’s engineers optimize the crown, sole and face structure by using finite element analysis with Cray Supercomputer to ensure maximum energy transfer to the ball. The crown is designed thinner, which saves some weight. The saved weight is positioned inside the club head to lower the center of gravity for reduced spin and higher launch. G10 driver also features famous Variable Face Thickness (VFT) technology to produce a thin, highly responsive hitting surface for increased ball speeds and greater consistency across the entire face.

Ping G10 Fairway Wood is designed with low center of gravity for far, high and straight hits. Its special face design saves some weight, allowing engineers to place the saved weight at key place to produce higher launch angle. An internal weight pad with a weight accounting for 23% of the total club weight is placed on sole, near the face. It helps lower center of gravity to achieve more ball speeds and lower spin rate for maximum distance. Like the driver, g10 fairway wood also features the VFT technology to offer higher speed and make the face more durable, helping golfers achieve excellent performance. It also has a special sole design. The head providing optimal trajectory is flatter than previous models, making sole more closed to ground to inspire golfers’ confidence at address. It is also easier to launch ball, transfer power for high launch angle and more distance. Both G10 Hybrid and g10 irons are constructed of 17-4 stainless steel. The hybrid has a sloped crown for high-launching and solid feel. There are 6 lofts provided for replacement. It also features the VFT technology. The Ping G10 Hybrid sole design is tapered and the bounce height is increased in the higher lofted hybrids to provide performance from all conditions. The irons feature Custom Tuning Port (CTP) which allows engineers to stabilize the hitting area to produce consistently high ball speed across the entire face.
